La rupture écologique dans l’ouvre de Marx / 2022

WRITING (SELECTION) LA RUPTURE ÉCOLOGIQUE DANS L’OEUVRE DE MARX / 2022
“The Ecological Rift in Marx’s Writings”, PhD Thesis written between 2016 and 2021, defended  in April 2022. 592 pages. French

Rather than depicting Marx as a prophet of political ecology in order to overcome the traditional objection raised against his alleged productivism, this research attempts to reconstruct the complex emergence of an ecological moment in his work. The critical analysis of the “metabolic rift“ in Capital is interpreted as a real theoretical shift within his intellectual endeavor. It represents a departure from the paradigm of production forged by Marx in his early work, in which his philosophical naturalism is not ecological from the outset. Highlighting the radical novelty of this ecological moment enables us to measure the scope of the implicit metamorphosis that affects both the ontology of productive relations to nature as well as the critical model deployed by Marx to consider the overcoming of capitalism. Rather than an epistemological break, the ecological transformation of the paradigm of production remains incomplete and requires to be broadened and specified critically.
