Biography

Thea Etcetera (she/her*) is a hybrid performer who transitioned from Dr. in Philosophy to Drag artist, without ever ceasing to write critical essays and short stories. Born in France, she studied philosophy at the ENS de Lyon and defended a PhD in social ecology at the Université de Strasbourg and Centre Marc Bloch de Berlin in 2022. Being 30, she came out as a transwoman and decided to finally embrace the artistic path she had so long aspired to. Thanks to her early training as a circus artist – touring with a youth company between 16 and 18 – she broke into Berlin’s Drag scene very quickly. Alongside her studies, she also practiced creative writing and won the 2nd Prize of Louise Weiss Literature award for a piece of fiction in 2018. Bringing this element of storytelling and spoken words into her performances, she weaves embodied narrative to challenge the cis-patriarchal order. In collaboration with dancers, she created in 2023 and 2024 two extended theater pieces to share these critical views with a young audience, thanks to the funding of KiA program of Berlin Mitte. Behind the stage, she works as a circus trainer, queer educator, and workshop facilitator for youth.
